PCI Compliant Online Shopping Cart Solutions

PCI Compliance - Who needs the headache ?

Your online shopping cart can still allow users to choose whatever they want from your online catalogue however at checkout, after appropriate shipping and any applicable taxes have been calculated, as a merchant seller, you must pass the user and the shopping details over to a PCI Compliant system that has Visas permission to query that user for their credit card information.

Again, as a seller, you are no longer allowed to simply put html forms on your site that ask a user for their credit card information.

Yes, we know that any savvy 14 year old now has the technical expertise to do this but as of 2006 its a direct violation of several Visa requirements.

Truly this sales oriented “capture that credit card and make money” is no longer allowed and you will lose your merchant account if a savvy user understands what it is that you, as the seller, are doing and complains about your sellers process.

In many cases, when you apply for a merchant account and give the merchant granting group like authorize.net or paypro your website, they will in fact decline your application if they find this on the site.

The proper method now is to use a PCI Compliant shopping cart like 1shoppingcart for the actual hosting of the credit card information.
